The Drysdale Family Support Foodbank has been helping families on the Bellarine Peninsula, who are experiencing Food Insecurity, for the past 25 years. As well as providing this service through the year, the Foodbank also provides Christmas Hampers for regular clients.
When households struggle to have enough food for their regular meals, Christmas can be a very challenging time. This Hamper would contain some Christmas treats, pudding, custard, ham, sweets, mince tarts, biscuits and a present for each member of the household. The Foodbank, and the assistance it provides, is made possible through the receiving of some Grants from organisations like; Give Where You live Geelong, The Bendigo Bank, the Drysdale Portarlington Lions Club, local Schools, Community Gardens and Community Groups. We access Foodbank Victoria and the North Geelong Food Relief Centre. Also, we rely on the generosity and support of the local community, coming together to help their neighbours and friends. This need grows at Christmas time and we appreciate the extra support given at a time of year when people need their local community more than ever. Collection baskets for donations are located in the Drysdale Primary School office.
